More than 150,000 already without power in NC before Florence makes landfall

The number of NC residents without power is now over 150,000, according to the Department of Public Safety.

The outages were announced just after 11:00 p.m. on Thursday as Hurricane Florence closed in on the coast.

Power outages, flooding and storm surge were the main concerns for the state as the Cat. 1 storm moved in. Several residents fled the coast under both mandatory and voluntary evacuations.
