(FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - The threat for freezing drizzle and ice will impact commutes in the FOX 46 viewing area Wednesday morning.
A light glazing of ice is possible along and northwest of the I-85 corridor between the hours of 2 and 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Any ice accumulation would be VERY light and would likely not even add up to .1 of an inch. Since ice accumulations will be so light there will not be any tree limb or power outage issues.
However, any amount of ice on the roads is dangerous and could quickly create dangerous travel conditions.
For that reason, Iredell-Statesville schools, Mooresville Graded School District and Rowan-Salisbury schools announced that they will be operating on a two-hour delay for Wednesday. Caldwell County schools, Alexander County schools and Newton-Conover schools will operate on a three-hour delay.
Freezing rain will come to an end as temperatures warm up significantly by the mid morning hours.
