CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A few snow showers moved into mountains early this morning providing a dusting of snow. More is expected in higher elevation areas tonight, but ice could be a danger for the Charlotte-metro.
For the mountains, it's still looking like mostly snow and sleet with a brief changeover to rain or freezing rain. This will continue through Sunday, with a total 2-4" of snow possible.
Along the I-40 corridor and foothills neighborhoods, a trace to 2" of snow is possible, along with some icing on elevated surfaces. This is where we could see more power outages.
In the Charlotte area, to the south and east we can expect mostly cold and freezing rain. A little snow is still possible, but no significant snowy accumulation is in the forecast here.
The heaviest of the precipitation moves through Sunday morning before gradually tapering off in the afternoon and evening. Some lingering flurries or sprinkles are possible Monday. Drier weather returns Tuesday through mid-week.

Sunday: Morning rain or wintry mix. Lingering showers/flurries in the afternoon. High 42.
Monday: Mostly cloudy with a few lingering flurries. High 44
