Steady light to moderate rain moving through, causing many wrecks

Steady light to moderate rain is moving through the area Tuesday morning and will stick around through this afternoon.

The rain will taper off by this evening and the area will dry out overnight.

Rainfall totals will be between .5-1" across the piedmont with 1-2" in the mountains.

No severe weather is expected with this system.

Once this rain clears out a cold front will swing through the area tomorrow and that will take temperatures way down into this weekend.

Multiple wrecks have occurred due to the rain. Both lanes are now open on S. Tryon after Medic cleared a two-vehicle crash.

A truck hit a pole early Tuesday morning on Josh Birmingham, that scene has been cleared as well.

All lanes are open on Central Avenue after the driver of a vehicle hit a tree. The driver was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
